Our 2019 Napa Valley Merlot has expressive aromas of cranberry, pomegranate, and cherry, followed by lovely hints of tobacco and toffee. This medium-bodied wine delights with rich cherry and blueberry flavors accented with hints of walnut and toasty oak across the long supple finish.
The 2019 vintage enjoyed a long and even growing season; with cool nights and warm, dry weather deep into November, the grapes received a long hang time for ripening. We had some later rain in March and April, so more soil moisture in the ground, larger clusters, was also a relatively larger crop than recent vintages. Wines are balanced with good weight and texture. Our Bordeaux harvest did not even begin until mid-October and continued unhurried into mid-November. The growing season was graced by a very even bloom, short veraison, which is good, and no extreme heat weather/spikes.
