Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon is crafted from a batch of wheated Kentucky straight bourbon aged for 6-8 years. The inaugural batch, A120, made its debut in January 2020, adhering to the nomenclature used in the tradition of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. The naming convention designates the letter “A” for the first batch of the year, followed by the month of release, and concluding with the last two digits of the release year. Three batches are allocated annually in January, May, and September, each displaying a unique batch number and proof. Notably, all releases are bottled without chill-filtration.
NOSE: The aroma is robust and sweet, featuring notes of maple, pancake syrup, brown butter, toffee, and cherry cola. Exhibiting a powerful and enjoyable character, it is enriched with wheater complexity and delightful sweet oak nuances.
TASTE: The palate offers a thick mouthfeel with a subtle heat sensation. While this release carries a touch more ethanol compared to the initial two of 2023, it remains far from overwhelming. Flavors of maple, cinnamon, pepper, clove, and a hint of nutmeg intertwine with decadent notes of pancake syrup, crème brûlée, and caramelized sugar.
FINISH: The finish is extended, characterized by a light oak presence but abundant dessert-like qualities.
