Bottle Image May Vary Silvano Samaroli is one of the great figures in the Scotch world. Born in Bologna, Silvano quickly established himself as one of the few non-British persons selecting and bottling great scotches, issuing his first Samaroli Scotch in 1968. His process is simple in theory but difficult in practice: tasting malt after malt, often at cask strengths of more than 50% abv. Relying on his keen understanding of the Byzantine world of Scottish malt distilleries, Silvano selects individual casks to bottle under his own label.
In addition to his line of Scotches, Samaroli also bottles rums from single casks from Fiji, Martinique, Guadalupe, Barbados, Guyana and elsewhere. Although the casks come from the tropics, he ages the rums in Scotland where the cooler climate reduces the pace of evaporation. This feature allows longer aging and results in clean, clear, elegant sipping rums
